About the event
Saddle-up for a pastoral folk-indie sonic/visual adventure, as ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ฒ๐ฆ๐ค๐ก๐๐ง๐ play their forthcoming album - Follyfoot 71-73 - in full!
Featuring Patch from The Sundays and Jason from Bennet, The Gymkhana are a 3-piece pastoral, lo-fi, folk-indie collective, who have accidentally made an album with like-minded chums (such as members of Slowdive, Gong , Midlake, Mediaeval Baebes, Miranda Sex Garden, Art Brut, Evil Blizzard, Billy Reeves) about the joys and dangers of living a life through the prism of nostalgia.
Each song uses the narrative of 1970s childrenโs tv show, Follyfoot, as a starting point for off-kilter pop songs. Fuzzy with sepia-tinged melodies about lost childhood summers, field recordings of fetes and medieval parties, and near-prog and post-punk wig outs that threaten to implode like a faulting broadcast of Top of the Pops in 1973.
